Namespace

A type of level meant to identify a token separately from other tokens of similar schema. Typically provided as a prefix.

Examples

slds.space.2xl
v2.color.red.500

In the first example above, slds represents the organization that owns the token. This is helpful when several organization’s tokens coexist within the same ecosystem and ownership of a particular token needs to be identified.

In the second example, the v2 suggests that this is the second version of color.red.500 meant to segregate the value from the first iteration of color.red.500. This can happen to support rebranding when creating a new scale of tokens.
