Describes a problem with using scales where inserting entries after creating and distributing a scale causes challenges in maintenance and user expectations.

If an organization has chosen to use a T-shirt scale for describing space, attempting to include an additional entry between small and medium causes a problem in consistent naming. There is no concise word that means “between small and medium”.

Ways to avoid this:

• Use namespacing to allow new versions of the scale when needed.
• Avoid the scale by using intents without aliasing.
